Below are tasks you should complete during the month of November...
...if you are pursuing further education after graduation:
Complete admissions applications by their deadlines.
If necessary, register to retake the ACT and/or SAT.
Students interested in taking the December ACT test should register now to avoid late fees. The regular registration deadline is Friday, November 8 for the December 14 ACT test. After November 8, students can register for the December test up until November 22 but will have to pay a late fee with their registration. The next ACT test date is February 8, 2025, and the registration deadline is January 3.
REM: You qualify for a fee waiver if you're enrolled in a federal, state, or local program that aids students from low-income families (e.g., TRIO programs like Upward Bound, Free and Reduced Lunch);Your family receives public assistance; You're unhoused or reside in federally subsidized public housing or a foster home; You're a ward of the state or an orphan.
Set up your FSA ID at StudentAid.gov if you haven't already (student AND parents need an FSA ID: https://studentaid.gov/fafsa-apply/parents).
The FASFA form will be broadly available to all students on or before December 1 (as reported 10/30/24).SHS will host a FAFSA night on December 5th providing expert help completing the FAFSA!
Research and download financial aid applications from college/university. Double check the deadlines for submission.

Complete applications for every scholarship for which you may be eligible use the Mapping Your Future Scholarship Tracking Sheet to keep track of scholarships for which you are applying and those you have been awarded. See below
Follow up to ensure your employers, teachers, and guidance counselors send letters of recommendation, then send a thank you!

All students planning to participate in NCAA Division I or II athletics or NAIA athletics must register with the respective organization. Please visit the
organization in the links below or click on the logo below to register online. Requirements are listed in the provided documents for students who intend to play intercollegiate sports on the Division I or II level or NAIA level.

Hagan Scholarship FoundationAmount: see websiteCriteria: 3.5 GPA, must enroll at four-year college or university the first semester following high school graduation, be on track to graduate from college in four (or fewer) years, 240 total work-hour requirement, income guidelines, must complete FAFSADeadline: December 1, 2024
Associated General Contractors of Missouri Scholarships Amount: $1,000-$3,000 (College Scholarship AND/OR Skilled Trades/Vo-Tech Scholarship)Criteria:College Scholarship: Applicants MUST attend a Missouri college, university or other eligible school or such an institution which is located in a state contiguous to Missouri, on a full-time basis. The applicant's field of study MUST be in construction or a construction-related field. Apprentice/Craft/Trade Grant Program: Applicants MUST attend a Department of Labor registered Apprenticeship Program or be pursuing a certified program. National Honor Society ScholarshipAmount: $3,200-$25,000Criteria: To be eligible, a student must be a high school senior expecting to receive a high school diploma during the current academic year; an active member in good standing of a National Honor Society chapter, meeting all membership requirements and obligations of the local chapter; an NHS student account holder, verified by the NHS chapter adviser.
